Christmas at Loyola is back!
In keeping with tradition, Loyola University New Orleans will open the holiday season with its signature Christmas at Loyola concert, held at historic Holy Name of Jesus Church.
(New Orleans – Nov. 25, 2021) 'Tis the season! Kick off your holiday celebrations at Christmas at Loyola, a signature event held in historic Holy Name of Jesus Church. Cymbals crash, instruments resound, and voices soar in this annual audience favorite, as students and faculty in the university’s acclaimed School of Music and Theatre Arts present a celebratory performance that draws residents from around the city.
The concert, which showcases a spectacular brass and choir opening, features the Loyola Chorale, Chorale SSA, Brass Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and university organist Dr. Marcus St. Julien. The joyous event also includes an audience Christmas carol singalong.
Last year’s event was canceled due to restrictions tied to the global pandemic, which makes this year’s event all the more poignant, as the Loyola choirs ring in the holiday season.
“This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the beauty of the season, to join campus and community together in a beautiful space with gorgeous music,” said Dr. Meg Frazier, Associate Dean of the College of Music and Media. “We are thrilled to bring back this special event and one of our most cherished traditions.”
