Fletcher and Loyola University New Orleans Sign Historic Agreement to Expand Access to Bachelor’s Degrees for Louisiana Students
Schriever, LA. - Fletcher Technical Community College and Loyola University New Orleans have signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), that creates a clear and affordable pathway for Fletcher graduates to earn a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree from Loyola.
During a signing ceremony held at Fletcher’s main campus on April 24, 2026, representatives from each college celebrated the launch of this transfer partnership. The agreement offers eligible students the opportunity to complete two years at Fletcher and two or more years at Loyola, culminating in a BAS degree.
"This agreement opens doors for our students to continue their education at a four-year university while remaining in Louisiana," said Dr. Strickland. "What makes this partnership especially meaningful is that it guarantees all 60 credits from any Fletcher associate degree program will transfer into Loyola’s Bachelor of Applied Science program. It’s a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when institutions work together to prioritize student success, economic mobility, and workforce development."
Under the agreement, students who complete an associate degree from Fletcher in any field, earn a grade of C or higher in applicable coursework, and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher, will be eligible to apply to Loyola’s Online City College to complete the BAS. All 60 applicable credit hours will transfer, excluding remedial coursework, allowing students to enter the program with junior-level standing. Loyola will guide these students through the transition with dedicated advising and support.
Courses within Loyola’s BAS degree completion program are offered fully online in an accelerated eight-week format, providing flexibility for working adults and nontraditional students.
“At Loyola, we believe education should be accessible, transformative, and rooted in purpose,” said Dr. Xavier Cole, President of Loyola University New Orleans. “This partnership with Fletcher Technical Community College creates meaningful pathways for Louisiana students to complete their degrees, advance their careers, and make a lasting impact. Together, we are expanding opportunity and helping more students build on their success and lead lives of purpose.”
Students can also receive a 50 percent tuition discount for Loyola’s CITY-A196: Online Adult Learning course, which they may take as a visiting student in their final semester at Fletcher. This credit will count toward their BAS degree if they choose to enroll at Loyola after graduating.
