RCIA is a process by which interested persons enter the Catholic church
or simply learn more about the Roman Catholic faith. The RCIA

If you are Catholic and have not celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation,

Marriage Preparation
Click here to go to the Marriage Preparation and Wedding Guidelines page.
Marriage preparation can be made available to current students and
others in the university community whose home parish may not be in the
New Orleans area. For more information on marriage preparation, or if you
would like to schedule a wedding in Ignatius Chapel, contact Fr. Jim Caime, S.J. at 865-3595. Click
on "Marriage Preparation" for more information about both
Marriage preparation and Weddings in Ignatius Chapel.
Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation (also called "confession") is offered in Ignatius Chapel periodically. It is also available by appointment with any priest on campus-- priests are available in most Residence Halls as well as across campus in various academic departments.
Anointing of the Sick
Although most students go through their entire young adult life without ever facing serious illness, some students (or staff or faculty) find themselves facing such a hardship. We offer the Sacrament of Anointing each Lent as part of a regular Sunday liturgy, and any university priest is able to offer the sacrament as needed. Contact our main office at 865-3226 for assistance. If you are a student, staff or faculty member in an emergency situation after normal business hours, please contact University Police at 865-3434 to locate a priest.
Pastoral Counseling and Spiritual Direction
University chaplains are trained to assist others with any spiritual needs. They offer a warm and trusting welcome to all, a "home away from home" where students, faculty and staff can find a listening ear and an understanding heart. Contact the University Ministry office at 865-3226 or a chaplain of your choice to inquire about spiritual direction. Click here to go to the staff page to meet the chaplains!
Grief Counseling
University chaplains are trained to assist people in times of despair. Resident chaplains are available in each residence hall or you can contact any member of the University Ministry staff. We work with members of the Counseling Center at Loyola to make referrals if that is necessary. University Ministry also provides opportunities to gather for ritual remembrances of loved ones every fall and spring, and at other times when requested. Please contact our main office or any University Ministry chaplain for help.
