About RCCP

The Resolving Conflict Creatively Program (RCCP) is a nationally known, comprehensive, school based, conflict resolution and intergroup relations program which facilitates the creation of safe, caring, nurturing, school communities.

Began in 1985 as a collaboration of the New York Public School and Educators for Social Responsibility's New York Chapter (ESR Metro), RCCP currently serves 5,000 teachers and 150,000 young people in 350 schools nationwide.

RCCP History

Since 1986, the Twomey Center for Peace through Justice, Loyola University New Orleans, has been exploring new ways of teaching children and adults alternatives for resolving conflicts without violence. One of its projects, the Resolving Conflict Creatively Program (RCCP), is a nationally-acclaimed conflict resolution model, which is in various stages of implementation in ten New Orleans Public schools.

In New Orleans, RCCP began collaboration with New Orleans ESR, New York Board of Education, RCCP Metro and New Orleans Public Schools (NOPS) in 1992. In 1998, in collaboration with the Louisiana Bar Law and Civic Education Program, New Orleans RCCP expanded to senior high schools. The Twomey Center, through its ESR affiliation, consults with the Orleans Parish School Board Safe and Drug Free Schools, other local and statewide agencies to help implement, expand or improve their conflict resolution programming in schools and school communities. Collaborations with Metropolitan Partners Against Crime (MPAC), Children's Bureau and the Louisiana Violence Prevention Task Force allow the Twomey Center's RCCP project to expand its scope and provide additional support to the students of New Orleans Public Schools.
