ABOUT THE AGENCY 
The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation (LPBF) is an environmental organization charged with the care of the Pontchartrain Basin, working for and with basin citizens on issues of water quality, habitat and the coast.

WHAT YOU DO 
Service learners will serve as volunteer tour guides for the LPBF New Canal Lighthouse Museum and Education Center.

WHAT YOU LEARN 
Students will learn the history and environmental issues that have faced and continue to face our region in terms of water quality, habitat and the coast. Students will learn how to tell the story of the Basin to the general public in an engaging and interactive way. Students will learn a great deal about local and regional science and history as well as marketing.

PRESERVICE REQUIREMENTS

  1. Students interested in serving at LPBF should be prepared for a brief interview.
  2. Students serving at LPBF will be required to attend on-site training sessions.
