Room Change Information

Room Change Dates: Monday, September 15 - Friday, September 26, 2008

Room Change has been rescheduled due to the recent campus evacuation as
Loyola prepared for Hurricane Gustav.

Room Change Fall 2008 will take place September 15 through September 26, 2008. During the Room Change period there is no charge for room changes. All room changes not completed by the final day of the Room Change period will be subject to the standard $100 Room Change Fee.

A letter will be delivered to each residence hall room by September 12, 2008 offering important details regarding the Room Change period. Room Change rules apply differently to Freshmen and Upperclassmen. Please make sure you understand Room Change rules as they apply to you.

All room changes occurring outside of the Room Change period are subject to a standard $100 Room Change Fee. Students are expected to identify their own roommates, if they wish to change rooms. Your AD can help you identify which students need roommates, if you wish.

All room changes must be coordinated through your AD. Please contact them directly as soon as possible so they can help you coordinate your room change:

FRESHMEN:
All Freshmen residents must have a roommate in the residence halls at Loyola University New Orleans. Freshmen are assigned a roommate based on the preferences stated on their Housing Contract. If you do not currently have a roommate, you may choose one of two options:

  1. You may identify a new roommate yourself. If you do so, you must meet with your AD to complete needed paperwork and complete your move within the Room Change time period.
  2. You may take no action and Residential Life will assign you a roommate. In this case, you must keep half of your room clean and clear (including bed, closet, desk, floor, etc.) If you choose this option, it is possible that you will be required to move into another room in order to make sure you have a roommate.

It generally is preferable that students proactively identify their own new roommates. However, if you are assigned a new roommate, you are expected to welcome them into their new home. Failure to comply with this expectation may result in behavioral sanctions and/or monetary fines.

Please note that, due to limited space in the residence halls, roommate pairings generally will not be granted open rooms. Also, no room change will be granted until all Freshmen have plans to move in with a roommate.

UPPERCLASSMEN:
Upper class students have the option to purchase their room as a single, as singles are available. Due to space limitations, no ‘new’ single rooms will be granted. Only students currently living in a room by themselves may purchase their own room as a single.

Any Upper class student choosing not to ‘buy-out’ their room as a single will be expected to accept a roommate at any time. It is possible that a new roommate will be assigned at any time throughout the academic year.

The cost difference to purchase your room as a single in each residence hall is as follows:
Biever and Buddig Halls - $800
Carrollton Hall Suite - $706
Carrollton Hall Apartment - $277
Cabra Hall - n/a (All Cabra Hall rooms are sold as singles)
