- If I attend a later Lagniappe session, will I have difficulty registering for courses?
- No. Each college will preregister students in early summer for some of their courses, both within the common curriculum and the major (if applicable). When you meet with your advisor, you will review your schedule and in most cases choose an elective.
- When will I get my room assignment and roomate's name?
- July 1. You will receive an email and hard copy notification that includes your new residence hall address, roommate's contact information, and a list of what to bring along with other helpful information. Contact Residential Life by selecting the link to the left or email them at reslife@loyno.edu.
- How can I change my Lagniappe date?
- We are only able to change reservations in extraordinary circumstances and based on space availability. If you need to change your reservation, please contact us as soon as possible at askocp@loyno.edu. While we will make every effort to accommodate your needs, we cannot guarantee that requests will be granted.
- How can I change other Lagniappe registration information?
- Please email askocp@loyno.edu with your updated information, which would include placement tests you want to take or changes to staying in the residence halls.
- How can I cancel my Lagniappe registration all together?
- Do I have to attend a Loyola Lagniappe?
- Yes, orientation is required for all new students. It is essential that you attend so that you can learn about the academic program, receive academic advising, and register for classes.
- Are my parents/guardians really required to attend?
- We strongly encourage parents to attend Lagniappe. Due to space limitations, each student is limited to a maximum of two parents or guests.
- Do I have to stay on campus during Loyola Lagniappe?
- Students do not have to stay on campus during Loyola Lagniappe, but we highly recommend it. It’s a great time to meet new people, hang out with your Krewe Leaders and see what residence hall life can be like.
- Can my parents/guardians stay on campus?
- Absolutely! We can accommodate your family for only $25/person/night. We will accept cash or check at the check-in table. for parents.
- Can I bring other family members?
- We ask that you refrain from inviting other family members due to space limitations.
- Can I arrive early or stay late after a session?
- Unfortunately, we cannot honor early arrivals or late departures during Lagniappe sessions.
- Am I permitted to leave campus during Lagniappe?
- Because orientation is an important academic and social experience, full student participation is needed. Students who are staying in the residence halls are not permitted to leave campus at night.
- Do I have to pay the $150 fee when I come to orientation?
- No. The fee will appear on the student tuition statement.
- I am an out-of-state student, and I want to come to one of the earlier sessions. Can I?
- Absolutely!! We welcome our out of state students at any of the sessions. We have reserved the August session for out of state students due to travel and budget constraints during this economic time.
- I am a local student and want to attend the August session. Can I?
- Due to the large amount of out of state students, we ask that you make every effort possible to attend the sessions in either June or July.
- When do I get my e mail address?
- Please select "Your Loyola Email Account" under Helpful Information on the left hand menu.
- What happens if I want to change the major I originally declared when I get to Lagniappe?
- It is not a problem. Just be sure to go to the college session that has the major you want to study.
