In conjunction with the workshop, LUCEC offers a one year, $1000 scholarship to a high school senior who will be entering Loyola University New Orleans in the fall. Applicants are judged on their portfolio of writings pertaining to environmental issues. Students may attend the "Covering the Environmental Beat" workshop during any point in their high school career, but must attend at least once to be eligible for the scholarship.
