On Thursday, October 17, JSRI will cosponsor a screening of the documentary Herman's House at 7:00 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium, Monroe Hall. The film tells the extraordinary story of "Angola 3" prisoner Herman Wallace and a panel discussion will follow featuring artist Jackie Sumell, Wallace's sister Vickie, and criminal justice experts from Loyola University New Orleans. The event is sponsored by the Office of Mission and Ministry and cosponsored by JSRI, Co-Curricular Programs, and the Women's Resource Center. On Friday, November 8, JSRI will host a presentation of Jesus on Trial at 12:00 p.m. in the Moot Court Room, Loyola University College of Law. Former federal prosecutor Mark Osler and Chicago-based public defender Jeanne Bishop will present a modern interpretation of Jesus' trial and sentencing where the audience becomes the jury and will discuss the current use of capital punishment in the United States.
