Upon arrival in Spetses on Sunday, June 18, 2017, students will enjoy a group orientation and a welcome reception at Hotel Spetses.
On Monday, June 19, 2017, students will enjoy a tour of Spetses by boat + a group dinner at a traditional taverna. Also included in this tour is a chance to take a small hike to Bekiri’s Cave, one of Spetses’ major attractions. Here you can either swim or climb into the cave that is said was used to hide freedom fighters during the 1821 War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire. From there you can either swim back to or climb back down the trail to the beach for dinner.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a series of legal visits, cultural tours, and festivals in Spetses and beyond. Program participants will have the option to join a fun and history filled weekend excursion trip to Mycenae, Nafplion, and the Theater of Epidarus. This optional trip includes a chance to take part in a special wine tasting opportunity at a Greek vineyard and enjoy the festival of Nafplion.
Additionally, students will have the option to participate in a service learning experience at Monastery of Aghioi Pandes.
Throughout the two-weeks, we will have various legal guest speakers who will instruct students on different issues related to Greece and abroad as well, which will culminate in students obtaining a skills credit.
Interested and qualified students will have the option to complete a one-week internship experience prior to the start of the Spetses program. There are a limited number of placements available for the summer of 2017.
