Loyola’s Five Pillars of Greek Life

Loyola University fraternities and sororities strive to achieve the highest standards in five separate areas to give their members an elite collegiate experience. The five pillars represent standards collectively shared by our groups and make being Greek life a great option for all students.

Leadership

Greek membership allows you the opportunity to gain valuable leadership skills either within your or on one of Loyola’s three governing councils. Loyola also sends Greek members to conferences across the country to participate in leadership workshops, regional conclaves and national conferences.

Scholarship

The Loyola all-Greek grade point average is consistently higher than the average student. Being a member of a fraternity or sorority will give you the opportunity to challenge yourself to achieve the same high standards.

Philanthropy & Community Service

Giving back to the community is a goal that all of our chapters strive for. Each group has their own individual philanthropies and community service efforts that they support throughout New Orleans. Please feel free to ask our groups which agencies they support.

Values Based Experience

Fraternities and sororities all pride themselves on the values and ideals of their founders. They use these ideals to guide their activities as well as provide members with a framework to guide their college experience.

Intramurals/Athletics

Many of our chapters have teams in the intramurals system sponsored by the Recreation Sports Department. Participation in these events give members the opportunity for teamwork, bonding, and friendly competition.
