  1. Why did you choose Loyola?

The reason I chose Loyola is the small size of the campus and student body was especially attractive to me. Coming from a high school that had more students than Loyola, small classes were a welcomed change. I feel much closer to my classmates, professors, and friends than I thought I would, and I believe that makes a huge difference in the overall quality of my experience here.

  1. If you could give one piece of advice to a prospective student about the college application process what would it be?

Stay positive during the application process. Applying to college is a stressful time for most seniors between finishing up with classes, graduation, and applications. Keep a positive outlook on your future during this time, and everything will fall into place.

  1. What’s the best thing about Loyola University?  Why?

One of the best things about Loyola is the common curriculum. Even before coming here, I had decided it was in my best interest to take a broad spectrum of classes in addition to whatever I majored in. This opportunity for a well-rounded education has already payed off in a few classes as well as situations outside of the classroom.

  1. What’s the best thing about living in New Orleans?

Being a person who loves a good meal, I think the food is my favorite thing about New Orleans. Living in the desert, seafood isn’t as common as it is around here, which means I can indulge more often (and at a cheaper price!). Although Las Vegas can be considered a melting pot of cultures, with a little something for everyone, I have to say that Southern cooking isn’t as popular as one may think. I can’t go anywhere for extended periods of time and not crave a bowl of hot, spicy gumbo or zesty red beans and rice!

  1. Have you completed an internship? If so, where and what was your favorite part? How did Loyola prepare you for it?

This summer I was allowed to shadow the nurses and doctors in the Emergency Department of Tour Infirmary, a local hospital. It was an excellent opportunity to not only help the community, but it also gave me some insight into the career field I’m interested in. The best part was definitely helping the nurses and doctors perform simple procedures and getting hands-on experience. The science courses I’ve taken thus far at Loyola helped me better understand what was going on with the patients and their treatments.

  1. How has your time at Loyola enhanced/challenged you as a person?

I have noticed that my understanding and perception of the world has changed since I first set foot on campus. The religious courses have had the most impact on my philosophical and moral beliefs than any other course. I’m more understanding of other cultures and more aware of my impact on the planet, and consider myself more insightful than what I was 2 years ago.
