Several people and websites helped me learn the computer skills necessary to produce this website. It is only fitting that I acknowledge their valuable assistance.
Joseph Ellis
A graduate of Loyola University and the grandson of our member John McNamara. Joseph initially introduced me to HTML and set up the basic structure for our site. His early support gave me the courage to tackle HTML and "get my feet wet" in web design.
Alvan Levine
Author and caretaker of the online HTML tutorial from Maricopa Center for Learning & Instruction. His tutorial is a wonderful hands-on introduction to HTML and more. By working through his lessons, I learned the basic skills to produce this website.
ButtonGenerator.com
An excellent button generator. It was the source for the navigational buttons, I generated for the HOME page.
CoolText.com
An excellent free on-line button and logo generator. I used it to produce the "title" banner "New Orleans Chapter" on the HOME page.
Eos Development
This Site Design company supplied the backgrounds (Tropical Fantasy Series) that I used on a number of pages.
Special Acknowledgements
Although the following individuals did not assist directly in the building of this website, it is only fitting that I publicly acknowledge their invaluable contributions to the chapter.
Roz and Pat Merritt
Both of the Merritts are hibiscus fanatics, raising hundreds of plants. But more importantly, together they have worked unceasingly to promote the chapters in both Texas and Louisiana. Without a doubt, we would not have been able to build these chapters so successfully without their untiring support, excellent advice, and unstinting generosity.
Robert (Bobby) and Bootsie Dupont
We owe both the Duponts a debt that we can not repay, but must acknowledge. Beginning at our very first show, Bobby and Bootsie Dupont have worked to make sure that our chapter succeeded in "making a splash".
For the last several years Bobby has been our chief supplier of hard-to-obtain plants and fertilizers. Moreover, both he and his wife Bootsie have worked at sales booths, hauled plants for the chapter, invited us to their home and nursery, sponsored grafting parties and designed the head tables at our Shows.
With uncommon skill and humor, Bobby Dupont has been instrumental in promoting hibiscus throughout Louisiana. We are most grateful for his efforts on our behalf and for his friendship and that of his wife.
